Truth bomb = people will let you down.
Don’t take it personally as often it isn’t about you…it’s about them.
I have lost count of the times that I have been left down over the last 10years:
🔸Prospects not turning up to discovery calls
🔸Clients not paying
🔸Promises to work together that don’t materialise
🔸Ghosting emails and messages
🔸Signing up and changing their minds
🔸Never like your content but say they support you
🔸Saying it’s in their diary but don’t show
🔸Don’t honour their commitments
🔸Expect discounts or freebies
Over the years I have got upset when these things happen, frustrated at the false hope they give and disappointed with their actions. Often feeling that somehow its my fault or something I have done.
👉But I realised its wasn’t about me and it’s a part of being in business. Not all people intend to let you down and most have good intentions. Yes some might be flaky or don’t really care but these are not your people and its good to let them go.
What can we do:
✅Set and honour our own boundaries
✅Don’t count your chickens till they hatch
✅Give people the time and space they need
✅Don’t give away your time so easily
✅Be honest and open with them
✅Focus on the engagement and support you do get
✅Have terms and conditions and stick to them
✅Be clear about your intentions too
✅Leave the door open
Above all don’t take it to heart, they may have their reasons and they just might be you best client in the future.
